Word of Mr. Mohamed TEBBOU, Director of the Complex Tourist Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou
Native of the old Ksar of AIT BEN HADDOU in 1932, and after serving for a few years within the National Office of Water and Sanitation (O.N.A) in the mines of BOUAZAR, I early realized, considering the beauty of the site, the promising future that this Ksar would have in terms of tourism.
In 1969, the village of Ait Ben Haddou was little known to tourists , since it was located about ten kilometers away from the national road (RN 10) connecting Ouarzazate to Marrakech, and it had just been equipped with a single-track road, the only access for cars. Driven by a deep desire to share the beauty and cultural richness of the Ksar, I invested the savings from years of work in the mines of Bouazar to purchase a large taxi, determined to reveal a part of the history of my country, my region, and my village to the world. Then I knocked on the door of Club Med, whose owner was none other than a certain Trigano, former CEO of the mines of Bouazar, converted to the tourism industry, to propose excursions to the Ait Ben Haddou kasbah. This is how my humble contribution to the promotion and development of the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou was forged.
And it was by bringing Club Med clients for excursions to discover the old Ksar that these often ended with lunch... at my humble home . Over time, the idea came to me to create a small restaurant in front of the historical site. On November 6, 1975, I opened my establishment, a small restaurant of 60 m2, the first in the village.
In 30 years of diligent efforts and unwavering determination to ensure the development of my village, often in challenging conditions, the village found its path, that of social and economic development through the tourism sector. Hundreds of jobs were created, simultaneously providing for the local disadvantaged population. To this day, I continue to serve to fulfill my mission and respond to the calls of my beautiful country for investment in the tourism sector.
At that time, despite the absence of electricity, drinking water, sanitation, and telephony networks, I continued to adapt to make my village a worthwhile destination.
Today, and after so many efforts, we offer to our guests from here and abroad, a hotel that opens onto the desert. Its decoration and furniture are rooted in Berber culture. It features 100 simple rooms, including 30 "Superior" rooms located in the new pavilion. À la carte dining by the pool under a luxurious caidal tent or on the hotel's panoramic terraces facing the majestic renovated kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. We provide services such as organizing wedding parties, seminars, and entertainment to our dear national and international clientele.
